State Eligibility
You must be 18 or older
You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account and to buy a ticket. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and you confirm your age when you accept the Terms. If the state you live in or are in sets a higher minimum age for contests of this kind, that higher age applies to you.
States with a minimum age above 18 — PLACEHOLDER table, to be completed by counsel [COUNSEL]: [STATE] — [AGE] · [STATE] — [AGE] · [STATE] — [AGE]. No state appears here until counsel has confirmed it.
Identity verification for a payout of $3,000 or more includes your date of birth. If it shows you were under the required age when you bought a ticket, the entry is void, no prize is paid and the account is closed. Under the Terms, the ticket fee of an under-age entry is not refunded. [COUNSEL] Whether a date of birth given at sign-up and confirmed only at that verification is enough in every eligible state, or whether an age check is required before the first paid entry. [COUNSEL]
There are no users under 18 on Propy Market. If you believe a minor holds an account, write to support@propymarket.com and we will look into it.
US states where paid entry is not available
Paid contests — Counter, Journey and Career, every ticket at every price — are not available to anyone who lives in, or is physically in, a state on this list. Both tests apply. If you live in a listed state, you cannot enter even while you are travelling in another state. If you live elsewhere but are in a listed state, you cannot enter until you leave it. Where you live is the state and country on your account; where you are is what our checks say, as described below. [COUNSEL] Confirm the residence test as drafted, and that the state on the account is how residence is established.
PLACEHOLDER — restricted states, to be confirmed by counsel before launch [COUNSEL]: [STATE 1] · [STATE 2] · [STATE 3] · [STATE 4] · [STATE 5] · [STATE …]. Nothing in this list is final until counsel has confirmed it, and no state is added or removed without counsel's advice. List last confirmed: [DATE — COUNSEL].
Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the other US territories are not states. [COUNSEL] Whether paid entry is available there; until that is decided, the platform treats them as restricted.
The list is enforced by the location checks in the next sections, not by asking you: when our checks place an account in a listed state, the ticket buttons are off and the ticket sheet says why. The list may change when a state's law or guidance changes, or when our counsel's advice changes. We date every change on this page, and the rules under "If you travel into a restricted state" apply to anyone whose state is added. [COUNSEL] Whether tickets already open when a state is added must settle, as drafted, or be refunded, and whether any notice period applies.
Outside the United States
At launch, paid contests are available only in the United States. If you live outside the United States, or our checks place you outside it, you cannot buy a ticket. This is where we have chosen to start, not a judgement about any country; if paid entry opens elsewhere, this page will say so, country by country.
A US resident who travels abroad cannot buy a ticket from outside the United States, and the rules for open tickets under "If you travel into a restricted state" apply to any ticket open at the time. [COUNSEL] Whether a US resident may buy a ticket while physically outside the United States, and under what conditions.
How we determine where you are
We place you every time you sign up, sign in and buy a ticket, not once at sign-up. The main signal is the IP address your device connects from, which an IP-geolocation provider maps to a country and a state. We also use the state on your account, the device and browser data we already collect, and whether these signals agree with each other.
If the signals disagree, or if the IP address belongs to a VPN, a proxy, a hosting provider or any other service that hides where a device is, we cannot place you and you cannot buy a ticket until you connect from an ordinary connection in an eligible state. Using any tool to appear to be somewhere you are not is a breach of the Terms: entries made that way are void and their prizes are forfeited.
Each check is recorded with the entry it belongs to — the IP address, the state and country it resolved to, and the result. That record is the platform's data for the purpose of a dispute about location, and it is kept under the Privacy Policy as part of your account data. [COUNSEL] Whether IP geolocation with these signals and the VPN block is sufficient in every eligible state, or whether any state requires device-level geolocation before a paid entry.
If you travel into a restricted state
Because we check on every ticket, a trip into a restricted state changes what you can do from the moment our checks place you there. The same three rules apply if your state is added to the list, or if you move to a restricted state and update the state on your account.
No new entries. You cannot buy a ticket — not a new Counter round, not a re-buy after a liquidation, not a Journey run, not a Career entry — until our checks place you back in an eligible state. If you now live in a restricted state, the rule lasts as long as you live there.
Open tickets settle. A Counter ticket bought before you crossed the line settles at its bell with everyone else's, ranked on the platform's recorded prices like any other. A Journey run continues until its 24 hours end, until you cash out, or until it stops out at −20 %. [COUNSEL] Whether you may still place trades inside a ticket that was already open while you are in a restricted state, or may only close positions and cash out. [COUNSEL] A Career ticket has no time limit: whether it is paused at its current level until you are back in an eligible state, or may continue to run.
Prizes are still paid. A prize earned on a ticket bought while you were eligible is yours. It goes to the wallet address the entry was made with — automatically when it is due if it is under $3,000, and after identity verification when it is $3,000 or more. Being in a restricted state at settlement does not cancel a prize. [COUNSEL] Confirm that a prize may be paid to a user who is located in a restricted state at the time of payout.
Your spend caps, cool-off and self-exclusion settings are not changed by any of this.
Sanctions screening
Every wallet address used for an entry is screened against sanctions lists, including the US Treasury's OFAC lists, when the entry is made. Because a prize is paid to the address the entry was made with, the address that is screened is the address that gets paid. The screening is done by a sanctions-screening provider, as the Privacy Policy describes.
An account cannot be opened for, kept for, or paid a prize to a person on a sanctions list, wherever they are. If an address or a person matches a list, the entry is refused and the account is closed. [COUNSEL] What happens to a ticket payment already received from an address that matches a list — refunded, held or reported — and what the user is told. [COUNSEL] What may be disclosed to a user about a match, and what may not.
Identity verification for a payout of $3,000 or more also screens the person, not only the address, as the Privacy Policy describes. [COUNSEL] Which lists are screened beyond OFAC. If you believe a match is wrong, write to support@propymarket.com.
How to ask about your state
If you are not sure whether you can enter, write to support@propymarket.com with "State eligibility" in the subject line and tell us the state you live in and, if it is different, the state you are in. We will tell you what the list says today. We cannot give legal advice and we cannot make an exception for one person; the list applies to everyone the same way.
This page is part of the rules every entrant accepts, with the Terms, the Contest Rules, the Responsible Play page and the Privacy Policy. The other eligibility rules — one account per person; employees, contractors and members of their households may play but cannot win prizes — are in the Terms.
